Geiger Makes Challenge Pledge To Scholarship Honoring Holt
Lewiston, Maine, distributor Geiger (UPIC: Geiger) has pledged a $10,000 challenge gift to the PPEF Named Scholarship in memory of industry leader Glen R. Evigna Acquired, Named BDA Detroit
Woodville, Washington, distributor Bensussen Deutsch & Associates, Inc. (BDA) (UPIC: BENS0002) yesterday finalized its acquisition of Madison Heights, Michigan, distributor Evigna (UPIC: TheBe589). An automatic MAS/CAS certification information hotline has been established to help members access general information about the program. The hotline is for members wishing to look up their MAS/CAS transcript or pin number, or to get information on testing dates and sites and program requirements. PPAI Signs Letter With Others To Repeal New 1099 Reporting

Mark Avenson has been hired as vice president of marketing of Chicago, Illinois, supplier R.S. Owens & Co. Inc. (UPIC: RSOWENS). He has almost 30 years experience in the promotional products industry, including most recently four years as vice president of marketing with Americhip. Prior to that, he spent 23 years in diverse roles with Norwood Promotional Products, including five years as vice president of creative services and eight years as vice president of marketing with Norwood’s Barlow Promotional Products division. Avenson also worked in operations management with Barlow/Salm and three years with Arthur Salm as graphics director. In his new role at R.S. Owens, Avenson will be responsible for product development, marketing campaigns, brand recognition and catalog development.

Angie Bidwell has joined Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, supplier Pro Towels Etc. (UPIC: PROTOWEL) in customer service for the West Coast region. Debbie Smith has joined the company in customer service for the Southwest region.

Sue Kennedy, CAS, has been named regional sales manager of Mobile, Alabama, supplier Crown Products (UPIC: CROWNPRO). She will represent Crown in the states of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota. Kennedy has been in the promotional products industry for 18 years and she is the current vice president of Upper Midwest Association of Promotional Professionals (UMAPP). She will oversee the marketing and promotional strategies of SPGUSA, as well as the day-to-day sales operations of the business. Lehere most recently served as the director of marketing for SPGUSA.

RAC Leadership Development Workshop Slated For June
More than 200 people are signed up for the 2010 RAC Leadership Development Workshop (LDW) June 23-25 at the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center in Grapevine, Texas. This year, the invitation-only workshop for volunteer leaders from 28 regional associations features 33 sessions with 15 new topics and 28 presenters in all aspects of association management. Fanda Awarded QCA Accreditation
Baldwin Park, California, supplier FANDA Promofactory (UPIC: FAND0001) has been awarded accreditation by the Chicago-based Quality Certification Alliance (QCA). FANDA successfully completed the QCA accreditation process, which requires a self-evaluation followed by an independent third-party audit.
