PPAI Looks For Safety Incentive Program Research
PPAI is looking for examples of safety incentive programs from member companies to build its case representing the industry before the federal government. Some agencies are concerned that safety incentive programs might encourage individuals to fail to report on-the-job injuries in order to earn the incentives linked to the programs.

While there is no legislation or regulations linked to this scrutiny, PPAI wants to be prepared to respond quickly and effectively. If your company has any statistics, case studies or programs that will help PPAI bolster the argument that safety incentive programs, when properly and professionally executed, can make workplaces safer, contact Anne Lardner, senior manager, public affairs for PPAI, at 972-258-3041 or AnneL@ppai.org.

This Month's PPB

Going For Gold
The 2010 Winter Olympic Games kick off this month in Vancouver, British Columbia, and if history tells us anything, the Olympic Village will be ripe with promotional products. From athletes’ uniforms and souvenir shops to the coveted Olympic medals, there is an opportunity for practically every product category to make an appearance at the games.

No More Safe Harbor?
For many years, PPAI has had a voice in Washington, D.C., to promote and protect the interests of the promotional products industry and small-business interests in general. Of late, that voice was needed more than ever. The past few years have brought increased scrutiny of promotional products by the healthcare industry, special interest groups and product safety advocates. It is increasingly important that all promotional products professionals take the time to become educated on the external forces now influencing our marketplace. The list of rules, regulations and codes is long—and it is growing.

What If? Small Question, Big Possibilities
The year 2009 was one of the toughest many of us have seen in our business and personal lives. Some of us are old enough to have experienced earlier recessions, but few, if any, readers lived through the Great Depression and its aftermath. I’m sure there are a few do overs we’d like to have, given what we know now. We can’t rewind the clock but we can plan and act differently for the months ahead.
