Distributor Deals Are Found In Every Stage Of The Sale
From shipping to sales tools to discounts on popular products, promotional products suppliers are offering deals for distributors that can save them money and help suppliers continue to gain business in an uncertain economy.

Stan Breckenridge, MAS, of Toledo, Ohio-based supplier Sabina (UPIC: SABINA) says his company wants to help lighten the load for distributors through freight costs. As a result, Sabina has designated five locations in the U.S. as freight equalization points.

When some products are tried-and-true winners, suppliers may offer special pricing to get even more value for their distributor clients. Miami, Florida-based supplier Bullet Line, LLC (UPIC: BULLET) is one example of a company offering lower prices on its top sellers. Bullet Line released a catalog of 52 top sellers that distributors can utilize now through December 31.

In the past year of economic ups and downs, even the strongest and oldest companies in the U.S. have suffered setbacks, with some even closing their doors permanently.

In the promotional products world, longevity is worth celebrating. Two companies that celebrate anniversaries this month reflect on what has given them staying power.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Bodek and Rhodes (UPIC: ULTRACLB) celebrates 70 years in business and has marked the occasion with employee celebrations and an open house at its Norton, Massachusetts, location.

"We are very proud to be a family-owned company, and to maintain this type of business, with the personal dedication to the customers for 70 years is a testament to every member of our Bodek and Rhodes family," says Mike Rhodes, president.

what would you do?

A distributor asks: "We've had an order for four months that we can't get out of the door because the end user keeps hesitating and changing its mind about what imprint it wants. What can I do to move it along? I'm thinking of charging a fee just for my time. Would this move the end user along or scare it away?"

What's your answer? E-mail answers along with your name, title and company name to Question@ppai.org by September 30 for possible inclusion in the December issue of PPB magazine.

Answers to this month's question are in. Click here to read what others had to say about a distributor who wanted to know whether she should pay 100 percent up front or walk away.
